Apple TVs sleep automatically after a certain amount of inactive time, and you can tweak that in Settings > General > Sleep After. But if you prefer shutting everything down when you’re done watching to avoid wasting power, try this. Press and hold down the TV button (top right) on your Siri Remote for about 5 seconds, and then click Sleep to put your Apple TV down for an immediate nap. (If only that worked on cranky toddlers!) As a bonus, if you have a newer TV that supports HDMI-CEC, sleeping or waking your Apple TV can also sleep or wake your TV. If it doesn’t, on your Apple TV, go to Settings > Remotes and Devices and switch on Control TVs and Receivers. You may also have to enable this feature in your TV: look for a setting that ends with a term like Cast, Link, or Sync.
