How to Plug in and Charge the Apple TV’s Siri Remote

The Apple TV’s Siri Remote is so thin that it’s easy to forget that it runs on battery power, especially since it can go months on a single charge. If you want to check its battery level (best to check before your kid’s Netflix binge-watching slumber party), hold down the Siri button and say “Battery level” or click Settings > Remotes and Devices > Remote. To charge the remote, you’ll need a Lightning-to-USB cable. Your Apple TV came with one, but it’s also fine to use one from an iPhone or iPad. Plug one end of that cable into the Lightning port on the bottom edge of the remote, and jack the other end into one of Apple’s USB power adapters or a Mac’s USB port. A full charge will take a couple of hours, but you can use the remote while it’s charging. To check if it’s charging, look for a lightning bolt on the battery icon on the Remotes and Devices screen.
