iPhone notifications are undeniably useful—they can keep you on schedule, display incoming messages, and much more. But because notifications can also be distracting and annoying, Apple added an Instant Tuning feature to iOS 12 that makes it easier to adjust an app’s notification approach. Start with any notification on the Lock screen or in Notification Center (open it by pulling down from the top center of the Home screen). Swipe all the way to the left on the notification, and then tap Manage to set how that app’s notifications will be delivered in the future. To banish them to Notification Center, tap Deliver Quietly, or to promote them to the Lock Screen, tap Deliver Prominently. To shut them off entirely, tap Turn Off and then tap Turn Off All Notifications. For more customization options, tap Settings—for example, you could specify a banner style or change the alert sound.
